We'll Crown the Greatest Title of the Console Generation: Final Four
The past two days have been incredibly eventful. This past Monday, we marked the five-year anniversary of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a competition to decide the best first-party game of this console generation. You were given eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X games to face off against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the leading contender from each platform would go head-to-head. We've witnessed some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. At this point, it's time to crown the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles before Thursday’s final battle.
The PS5 Side
On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected considering that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PS5 generation: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to secure a spot in the final four. Will Spider-Man defeat a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he destined to become a miniature appearance in the next Astro Bot game?
The Xbox Series X Side
For Xbox Series X has been even juicier. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of competitors is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the racing adventure title so far, demonstrating that a niche category title deserves to be on the equal footing as traditional jump-and-run games and cinematic action-adventure games. Its final obstacle on the way to the finals is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, defeating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's synonymous with the Xbox brand? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
Cast your votes to determine the top PlayStation and Xbox titles of this generation, and return on the next day to see which games will face off for the grand prize in the championship round!
